Common winter customer. Rare between April and September. One of those rare events twitching the weather pays off, an adult was at the nice Pond for the afternoon of a very showery 17 April. I had just one - a typical March fowl heading to roost at Frensham Great Pond - and am conscious of simply two different records.

Took photos of the birds and noticed what I believed at first had been a different species of terns which turned out to be simply Whiskered sp - pretty widespread here. This was all very frustrating as this might go down as a London first. Fortunately although, the rain had held off for many of the morning, but the first few spots of rain had begun to fall whilst I used to be gazing at four European Herring Gulls' drifting lazily over Elmdon Meadow.

Fairly widespread passage migrant. Very rare passage migrant, with single spring and autumn data from Tuesley. Both my data concerned spring migrants monitoring the High Weald Ridge.

47. An unusual however common. Uncommon and low-stage winter customer; barely extra regular on passage (especially early autumn) and very rare in summer season. Passage visitor; unusual in summer.
